Resident Doctors at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, Ogun State, have begun weekend  strike after their negotiations with the state government for improved pay collapsed. The doctors had embarked on a three-day warning strike over appropriate remuneration and appropriate hazard allowance et al which led to negotiations between them and the state government. It was learnt that the doctors under the aegis of the Association of Resident Doctors at the OOUTH were unable to reach agreements with their employers on some of their demands. In their   letter to  Governor Dapo Abiodun, they claimed  the state government   was  not committed to their welfare. Two persons have been killed in renewed clashes among cult groups in Calabar, Cross River state. This is coming less than 24 hours after the brutal murder of James Chia, a final year student of electrical electronic engineering in Cross River University of Technology, Calabar Campus, on Monday. Chia was shot and axed to death immediately finishing his final paper in the semester in his faculty. The two persons were shot dead in the early hours of today Tuesday, July 16, at Palm street and CRUTECH pavilion field, Calabar South. It is however not ascertained if they are students of the school.

Big Brother Naija 2019 housemate, Khafi on Thursday revealed a scary dream she had about fellow BBNaija housemate, Seyi. The Police officer, during her diary section, said after a disagreement with Seyi, she had a nap and in her dream, she saw Seyi trying to stab her with a knife. According to her, Seyi is opinionated and wants to direct his way. She said, ” Big Brother, this week has been very intense and our task is very demanding. In fact, its been so intense that I had to get a nap and in my dream, I saw Seyi trying to stab me with a knife. ”Maybe due to our little disagreement with the task, but I just had to shout Bigge look what Seyi is trying to do to me and after that, I woke up. ”However, I’m just giving him space cause I don’t want wahala.” Khafi also added that she was curious to know If the new housemate watched the show before coming to the house.

Ondo, Borno, Edo, five others reject home treatment for COVID-19 patients

Amid the rising number of cases and the refusal of some persons who test positive for COVID-19 to go  to isolation centres, many states have said they will continue to treat the infected patients at isolation centres rather than resort to home treatment option. They noted that getting persons who had tested positive for the virus to the isolation centres remained one of their strategies to contain the spread of the deadly virus.  Lagos State had on Thursday said it was considering adopting home treatment option for patients with mild symptoms, noting that it would soon release the guidelines for the treatment option. The state Commissioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi, said the decision to consider home treatment for some COVID-19 patients became necessary because some residents who tested positive for the COVID-19 refused to go to the state isolation centres and had been practising self-treatment in various places.
